Gyeonggi Hanam City (Mayor Lee Hyun-jae) announced on the 1st that it will implement the ‘Tong(Han)nam’ project, which provides transportation expenses of up to 160,000 KRW annually for seniors aged 70 and over in the first half of next year.
The ‘Tong(Han)nam’ project supports transportation expenses up to 40,000 KRW per quarter, with an annual limit of 160,000 KRW, for seniors using metropolitan, city, and village buses within the city.
Hanam City predicts that approximately 30,066 citizens, about 9.7% of the total population, will benefit from the ‘Tong(Han)nam’ project supporting transportation costs for seniors aged 70 and over.
Seniors eligible for the project can receive support equivalent to the amount spent on their transportation card each quarter, up to the annual maximum limit, when using metropolitan, city, or village buses passing through Hanam City.
Hanam City plans to carry out administrative procedures such as social security consultations and the enactment of related ordinances to smoothly promote the ‘Tong(Han)nam’ project, complete system construction, and implement the free transportation project within the first half of next year.
