Yongsan-gu Enrolls Disabled Electric Mobility Device Safety Insurance... Coverage Up to 50 Million Won
Yongsan-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Park Hee-young) announced on the 24th that it has enrolled in insurance that covers third-party liability arising from the operation of electric mobility aids by registered disabled persons in the area, thereby supporting people with disabilities.
The Yongsan-gu Electric Mobility Aid Safety Insurance aims to guarantee the mobility rights of vulnerable pedestrians and reduce anxiety and financial burdens related to safety accidents.
This insurance covers third-party bodily injury and property damage liability in the event of an accident during the operation of electric mobility aids. Coverage is provided up to 50 million KRW per accident, with no limits on total coverage or number of claims. Most importantly, the insured (registered disabled persons operating electric mobility aids) have no out-of-pocket expenses.
It also covers up to 5 million KRW for attorney fees in case the accident escalates into an unforeseen legal dispute. The coverage period lasts until September 10 of next year and will be renewed annually by the district office. Insurance claims can be made within three years from the date of an accident occurring during the coverage period.
This Electric Mobility Aid Safety Insurance automatically applies to all registered disabled persons residing in Yongsan-gu who operate electric scooters or electric wheelchairs, allowing them to receive benefits. The insurance is automatically terminated if the insured moves out of Yongsan-gu.
