As deepfake (AI-based image synthesis technology) sexual crime victims increase, the stock price of SandsLab, which provides a 'deepfake detection' service, is on the rise.
As of 10:33 a.m. on the 5th, SandsLab was trading at 10,260 KRW, up 1,700 KRW (19.86%) from the previous trading day.
The day before, SandsLab announced the launch of 'FakeCheck,' a service that detects deepfakes. FakeCheck allows users to upload images suspected of being deepfakes directly on the website, analyzing their authenticity within seconds. It is designed for easy use by anyone without requiring membership registration or verification procedures.

According to the National Police Agency, during the intensive crackdown period from the 26th to the 30th of last month, there were a total of 118 reports of deepfake sexual crimes over five days. Among 33 identified suspects, 31 were specified, and among the seven arrested, six were teenagers.
