"I Won't Go to Korea, the Country of Perverts"... The Identity of 'Bakjebang' That Angered Vietnam
Rising Tensions Over 'Pakjebang' Sharing Nude Photos of Local Women
Some Express Sympathy
The existence of the so-called 'Vietnam Bokje Room,' where personal information and nude photos of local Vietnamese women are shared, has become known in Vietnam, intensifying anti-Korean sentiment among the Vietnamese people.
Recently, posts related to the domestic 'Vietnam Bokje Room' have been spreading mainly on Vietnamese social networking services (SNS). In particular, as it became known that numerous women's photos, videos, and personal information had been shared in this room for five years, Vietnamese netizens expressed anger, saying, "It's disgusting, so I won't go to Korea."
One local netizen claimed, "Korea is the second India," adding, "Korea is not safe. Such malicious acts are common in Korea." Another netizen showed anti-Korean sentiment, saying, "Don't dare compare Korea with other countries. It's an act of insulting other countries." Other critical comments followed, such as "Less than one out of ten Koreans are good people," "What is wrong with Koreans' brains?" and "A country of perverts."
The 'Vietnam Bokje Room' is a Telegram chat room where personal information, nude photos, and videos of local Vietnamese women are shared. The room administrator, who has operated the 'Vietnam Bokje Room' for five years, claimed, "Our group was created from the beginning with the purpose of 'exposing damn Vietnamese women who scam Koreans,'" and "We never treated ordinary Vietnamese women as prostitutes; we only criticized women who approached Korean men for money." However, personal information of women unrelated to scams was also shared in the chat room. One woman entered the room and pleaded, "I am not a bad person and I do not work at a karaoke bar," asking, "Please take down the photos and do not participate in this room."
