About 90 students from Korea University of Technology and Education have embarked on an 8-night, 9-day, 100km cross-country trek in Jeju.
On the 12th, Korea University of Technology and Education held the opening ceremony for the 8th Cross-country Trek of the 2024 academic year, with participation from the student council, general students, and faculty members.
The cross-country trek, which began in 2014, is now in its 8th year. This year’s trek, under the slogan “Summer, Leaving the Echo of Jeju,” will take place from the 13th to the 19th, covering Jeju Olle Trail courses 3 to 8 and culminating in a climb of Hallasan, totaling over 100km.
President Yoo Gilsang will also join the students, walking with them during the afternoon course on the second day and the morning course on the third day.
President Yoo Gilsang said, “The Jeju Olle Trail cross-country trek has become a unique cultural event of our university, offering students the opportunity to overcome their limits by walking the beautiful Jeju Olle Trail and climbing Hallasan, a symbol of Korea. Above all, I hope this will be an opportunity to foster a sense of community and communication skills, while prioritizing safety in the heat.”
