"I Love My Hometown"... Song Oksik, Senior Advisor of Zainichi Korean Community, Donates 20 Million Won to Changwon
Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam announced on the 8th that Song Okshik, the standing advisor of the Hyogo Prefecture Gyeongsangnam-do Residents' Association in Japan, donated 20 million won in a charity fund for the elderly in his hometown (Jinbuk-myeon, Masanhappo-gu, Changwon City).
Advisor Song stated that although it has been nearly 100 years since his grandparents left their hometown for Japan in 1925, he decided to make the donation out of love for his hometown. The donation will be delivered to four elderly care facilities located in Masanhappo-gu, Changwon City.
Advisor Song said, "Although I live in Japan, I have never forgotten my pride as a Korean or my hometown. I hope this can be of some help to elderly people in my homeland who have shared the pains and prosperity of the same era, such as war and economic development in the 1960s and 70s."
Seo Hogwan, Director of the Welfare, Women, and Health Bureau, said, "We deeply appreciate your warm heart and donation for your hometown. In accordance with the donor's wishes, we will carefully deliver the donation to help lonely and struggling elderly people."
