Z Flip Edition, Toiletries, and... Paris Olympic Athlete Gift Pack Unveiled
Canadian Yacht Team Athlete Reveals 'Welcome Back' on TikTok
20 Condoms Per Person Distributed Since Seoul Olympics
As the athlete village occupancy was completed ahead of the opening of the 2024 Paris Olympics on the 26th (local time), the environmental gifts distributed to the athletes by the organizers have been revealed, drawing attention.
Sarah Douglas of the Canadian sailing team recently shared the 'welcome pack' provided to participating athletes on her TikTok account.
Douglas explained that when she entered the room assigned in the athlete village, a gift package distributed by the Olympic athlete support organization 'Athlete365' was placed on the bed.
The package included water bottles such as Powerade, Samsung Electronics' latest smartphone, the 'Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition,' a guidebook, and a toiletry bag.
Douglas amused viewers by looking around the condom included in the package. The condom case featured the Paris Olympic mascot 'Phryge,' with phrases such as "Fair play even on the stage of love," "Get consent," and "You don't have to be a gold medalist to wear it."

View original imageThe Paris Olympic Organizing Committee is providing 300,000 official condoms during the event, with 10,714 athletes participating, which means each athlete receives 20 condoms.
The distribution of condoms to athletes in the athlete village during the Olympics began in 1988 at the Seoul Olympics, when 8,500 condoms were provided for the first time.
The reason for providing condoms is that thousands of vigorous athletes gather in one place for several weeks, leading to a certain level of 'socialization' in the athlete village. In fact, during the 2012 London Olympics, the number of downloads of dating apps reportedly surged.
Ronda Rousey, a former mixed martial artist who competed as a U.S. judo representative at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, once said, "The Olympic athlete village is pure debauchery."
Accordingly, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) provides condoms free of charge to prevent athletes from contracting sexually transmitted diseases, especially AIDS, when engaging in sexual activity.

At the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics, 110,000 condoms?the largest number in Winter Games history?were prepared, and about 160,000 condoms were distributed at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The highest number across both Summer and Winter Games was 450,000 at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
