Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) is operating a 'special program' during the summer vacation so that teenagers can enjoy themselves within the local area without having to travel far.
The special program will be held from July 13 to August 24 at four district-run youth centers. Each center offers a distinct theme, creating differentiated programs that can be enjoyed by teenagers, families, and local residents together.
Jamsil Youth Center will hold the 'Jamsil Summer Festival' on July 13 at the lawn square of Asia Park. Under the theme of 'Water Playground in the City,' participants can experience a 10-meter swimming pool, a large slide, fishing games, a flea market, face painting, photo booths, and fan making. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Macheon Youth Center has prepared a guerrilla water gun festival. On July 27, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., 'The Village is a Playground, Water War' will take place at Neolmun Park to beat the heat. Activities include games hitting targets with water guns, water gun battles, and water play using buckets. However, participants must bring their own water guns to join.
An environmental festival will also be held. Ogum Youth Center will conduct two activities themed on environmental pollution on August 17 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Using a 'waste PET bottle water gun kit,' participants will play games such as sending plastic cups far and magnetic fishing to pick up trash with magnets on the center’s rooftop. After the activities, participants can also experience Fab Lab (fabrication laboratory) to make items like lamps and neon signs.
Songpa Youth Center’s theme is 'Our Family Communicating Through Games.' On August 24, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the second floor of the center, 5th and 6th-grade elementary students and their parents will participate together. Parents can learn how to guide proper gaming habits, and teenagers can experience game coding. Afterwards, children and parents will form teams to compete in a mobile KartRider family tournament.
Families wishing to participate can inquire at the centers by August 14.
The district has taken thorough safety measures, including assigning safety management personnel, to prevent accidents as various age groups participate in this special program.
