"Foreigners and Institutions Sell Together"... KOSPI and KOSDAQ 'Plummet'
KOSPI and KOSDAQ fell due to simultaneous net selling by foreigners and institutions. KOSPI dropped below the 2800 mark after a day, while KOSDAQ fell by more than 2%.
On the 2nd, KOSPI closed at 2780.86, down 23.45 points (0.84%) from the previous trading day.
The index showed a downward trend from the beginning of the session. In particular, it fell nearly 1% as foreigners switched to net selling.
By investor type, foreigners and institutions net sold 33.2 billion KRW and 352.3 billion KRW, respectively. On the other hand, individuals net bought 394.2 billion KRW.
By sector, machinery and construction fell more than 2%, while chemicals, precision medical instruments, distribution, services, and paper/wood sectors dropped more than 1%. Conversely, pharmaceuticals and insurance rose by 2.42% and 1.22%, respectively.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, Samsung Electronics closed at 81,800 KRW, the same as the previous trading day. Hyundai Motor and Samsung SDI fell more than 4%, and Kia also dropped 3.89%. Additionally, SK Hynix, LG Energy Solution, POSCO Holdings, and Naver fell more than 1%.
On the other hand, Samsung Biologics rose 6.72%, while KB Financial Group and Shinhan Financial Group increased by 4.52% and 3.46%, respectively.
On this day in KOSPI, 197 stocks rose without hitting the upper limit, 694 stocks fell without hitting the lower limit, and 41 stocks remained unchanged.
KOSDAQ closed at 829.91, down 17.24 points (2.04%) from the previous trading day.
By investor type, foreigners and institutions net sold 104.1 billion KRW and 163.7 billion KRW, respectively. Meanwhile, individuals net bought 295.3 billion KRW.
By sector, other services fell 3.08%, while transportation equipment parts, precision medical devices, general electrical and electronics, and publishing/media/replication sectors dropped more than 2%. Machinery equipment, chemicals, textiles/apparel, and metals also declined more than 1%.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, EcoPro BM closed at 182,500 KRW, down 6,000 KRW (3.18%) from the previous trading day. Alteogen and HLB fell more than 5%, while Rino Industrial and Hugel dropped more than 4%. Additionally, HPSP, Pearl Abyss, EcoPro, Classys, and Rainbow Robotics declined between 1% and 3%.
On the other hand, Samchundang Pharmaceutical rose 8.88%, and Silicon Two increased 1.16%.
