Dongseo University Holds Interim Report and Discussion on 'Glocal University Cultural Content Specialized Undergraduate Curriculum Reform'
Dongseo University recently held an interim report meeting on the "Glocal University Cultural Content Specialized Academic Structure Reform" aimed at realizing the goal of becoming "Asia's No.1 in Cultural Content" at the Global Room in the New Millennium Building.
The interim report meeting was attended by President Jang Je-guk, other key executives, and 21 working committee members of the "Glocal University Specialized Academic Structure Reform Task Force." Major reforms discussed included: ▲ the integration of three colleges within the university specializing in cultural content (Im Kwontaek College of Film and Arts, College of Design, and College of Media Content), ▲ the introduction of an open major system (liberal major system) and broader recruitment units for new students, and ▲ organizational restructuring for a more flexible academic structure. The university shared plans to drive innovation by breaking down various barriers.
Previously, several expert advisory meetings were held to innovate the specialized academic structure. On the 4th and 5th, Dean Choi Susan from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) was invited to provide advice on topics such as future-oriented academic structures at global universities, future prospects by major, and strategies to enhance competitiveness. On the 11th, Lee Cheolbae, Vice President and Head of Design Management Center at LG Electronics, was invited to hold a seminar on the qualities required of talent in the AI era and the future changes in industrial structures.
Going forward, the university plans to continue discussions on the establishment of new AI-integrated majors, integrated liberal arts education, academic advising, and building educational infrastructure. The final structural reform plan is expected to be completed in July, laying the foundation for Dongseo University’s leap as a glocal university.
