KOSPI Ends at 2780 Amid Institutional 'Selling'... 'Hyundai Motor's Strength'
The KOSPI closed at the 2780 level due to institutional selling. While major semiconductor stocks remained flat, Hyundai Motor closed strong, hitting a 52-week high.
On the 27th, the KOSPI closed at 2784.06, down 7.99 points (0.29%) from the previous trading day.
By investor type, individuals and foreigners net bought 264.5 billion KRW and 507.9 billion KRW respectively. Meanwhile, institutions net sold 774.3 billion KRW.
By sector, transportation equipment rose 1.14%. In contrast, machinery fell 2.05%. Additionally, electric gas, services, medical precision, telecommunications, and food and beverage sectors declined by more than 1%.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, Samsung Electronics closed at 81,600 KRW, up 300 KRW (0.37%) from the previous trading day. Hyundai Motor and Kia rose 2.94% and 0.54% respectively. Conversely, Samsung SDI fell 2.17%. Other stocks such as Celltrion, Shinhan Financial Group, and NAVER closed down more than 1%.
On this day, 264 stocks in the KOSPI rose without hitting the upper limit, while 622 stocks fell without hitting the lower limit. 45 stocks remained unchanged.
The KOSDAQ closed at 838.65, down 3.47 points (0.41%) from the previous trading day.
By investor type, individuals net bought 119.1 billion KRW. Foreigners and institutions net sold 52.7 billion KRW and 66.7 billion KRW respectively.
By sector, chemicals rose 2.06%. In contrast, digital content fell 2.66%. Telecommunications equipment, transportation, internet, and distribution sectors also closed down more than 1%.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, EcoPro BM closed at 178,000 KRW, down 400 KRW (0.22%) from the previous trading day. HPSP and Silicon Two fell more than 3%. HLB, Celltrion Pharm, and Samchundang Pharm also declined more than 1%. On the other hand, Enchem surged 8.35%.
