Online video service (OTT) Netflix announced on the 20th that it will produce director Yeon Sang-ho's film "Gyesirok" (Apocalypse).
The film depicts the story of a pastor who believes that punishing the culprit of a missing person case is a divine revelation, and a detective in charge of missing person cases who is haunted by the ghost of his deceased younger brother, each following their own beliefs. Actor Ryu Jun-yeol plays Min-chan, a pastor who follows the divine revelation, and Shin Hyun-bin plays detective Yeon-hee, who chases Yang-rae, a suspect in the missing person case, and a suspicious pastor.
Netflix has teamed up again with director Yeon and writer Choi Kyu-seok for "Gyesirok," following "Hellbound" (2021). "Gyesirok" is based on the eponymous comic the two released in 2022. Director Yeon, who has reflected on the subtle boundaries between religion and humanity, faith and belief, good and evil in works like "The Fake" (2013) and "Hellbound," is determined to continue the expanded universe.
