This drill assumed a scenario where a tugboat collided with a pier under construction, causing a person to fall into the sea and a large-scale oil spill, aiming to strengthen the civil-government-military cooperation system for complex maritime accidents.
In particular, the focus was on enhancing accident response capabilities such as △life rescue and patient transport △sealing of the damaged area of the accident vessel and transfer of loaded oil △maritime pollution response.
Patrol vessels and the Korea Marine Rescue Association jointly searched for and rescued drifting persons at sea, while the Mokpo Coast Guard’s Pollution Response Ship No.16, private autonomous pollution response teams, the Korea Marine Environment Corporation’s Cheonghae ship, and the Navy HUB installed oil fences and conducted marine pollution response.
