Three Universities to Host 'Busan ICT Convergence Hackathon'
Hosted by Dongseo University, Pusan National University, and Dong-A University

The 9th Busan ICT Convergence Hackathon will be held on July 4-5 at the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Hall.
Hackathon is a compound word of hacking and marathon, referring to a competition where participants form teams within a limited period to continuously generate ideas and produce results.
This event, now in its ninth year, is hosted by Busan Metropolitan City, the Ministry of Science and ICT, and the Institute for Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation, and organized by Dongseo University, Dong-A University, and Pusan National University.
The theme of this year’s competition is AI+X (AI Convergence Project), aiming to ▲ integrate AI into various industries for technological innovation and productivity improvement ▲ create new demand-driven AI convergence projects using big data-based AI development/utilization ▲ solve problems and issues in diverse fields using AI technology.
The 9th Busan ICT Convergence Hackathon is held to discover outstanding ideas in the ICT convergence field. Ten teams from the general division and ten teams from the high school division, including ICT planners, developers, designers, and students, will participate and engage in two days of intensive development without overnight breaks.
Applications are open until 1:00 PM on Friday, the 21st. The general division will accept the first ten teams on a first-come, first-served basis, while the high school division will select ten teams after a document review. During the main event, expert mentoring will be provided to help participants develop excellent ideas. The final ranking will be determined through evaluation after idea development and final presentations. The total prize money is 4.2 million KRW, with 2.4 million KRW awarded to the general division and 1.8 million KRW to the high school division.

This competition is expected to discover creative and innovative solutions using AI technology and contribute to strengthening the industrial competitiveness of Busan. It will also provide participants with practical technology development experience, enhancing their capabilities as next-generation IT talents.
The "Busan ICT Convergence Hackathon" organized by Dongseo University and two other universities will be held.
