Korea Import Association Signs 'Trade Promotion MOU' with Rwanda and Kenya

The Korea Importers Association announced on the 5th that it signed memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with the Rwanda Development Board and the Kenya Chamber of Commerce at the InterContinental Hotel Harmony Ballroom in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, on the 4th to diversify global supply chains and promote trade between the two countries.

The signing ceremony took place during the 'Korea-Africa Contract and MOU Signing Ceremony,' held in conjunction with Korea's first multilateral summit targeting African countries. Jung In-kyo, Director General for Trade Negotiations at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, also attended.
Francis Gatara, Chairman of the Rwanda Development Board, said, "Last month's visit of the Korea Importers Association's African import delegation to Rwanda served as a foothold to strengthen trade cooperation between the two countries," adding, "We are confident that the volume of trade between the two countries will also expand through this MOU signing."
Dr. Ruto, Chairman of the Kenya Chamber of Commerce, emphasized, "With this MOU signing as an opportunity, we hope to enter the Korean market not only with Kenya's coffee but also with key agricultural products such as avocado, honey, macadamia, cashew nuts, as well as various mineral resources including titanium and cobalt."

Kim Byung-kwan, Chairman of the Korea Importers Association, stated, "Through the signing of MOUs with each institution in Rwanda and Kenya, we will strengthen cooperation to stabilize the global supply chain and continue to pay attention and make efforts to diversify import sources."
