Southeast Nuclear Medicine Center Opens Region's First Rehabilitation Medicine Department and Invites Specialist
Inviting Rehabilitation Medicine Specialist Dohwan Kwon to Provide Expert Rehabilitation Treatment
Southeast Regional Nuclear Medicine Center (Director Changhoon Lee) has recently established a Department of Rehabilitation Medicine and recruited a new rehabilitation medicine specialist to strengthen its cancer treatment capabilities.
The newly appointed head of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Hwankwon Do, previously served as a professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Inje University Haeundae Paik Hospital. He has extensive clinical experience as a specialist in cancer patient rehabilitation, pediatric rehabilitation, and central nervous system rehabilitation.
Currently, in Gijang-gun, there has not been a single hospital with a Department of Rehabilitation Medicine for the past 10 years, and there are no active rehabilitation medicine specialists in the region. As a result, patients have had to travel to nearby areas for rehabilitation treatment.
Furthermore, many cancer patients treated at the medical center require rehabilitation for issues such as lymphedema and gait disorders after cancer treatment. However, when specialized rehabilitation treatment was needed, patients had to be transferred to other regions.
To address the issue of patients traveling for treatment and to provide the best possible care to cancer patients treated at the center, the medical center has recruited a rehabilitation medicine specialist.
Director Changhoon Lee stated, "Southeast Regional Nuclear Medicine Center, established in response to community needs, will enhance essential medical capabilities in the region so that local patients can receive safe and comprehensive care within their own community."
