Dong-Eui Science University Department of Nursing Provides Health Education Volunteer Service to Local Residents
Dong-Eui University of Science and Technology (President Kim Youngdo) announced on the 22nd that students from its Department of Nursing have been conducting health promotion and health education volunteer activities for local community residents.
The Department of Nursing at Dong-Eui University of Science and Technology (Head Kim Yoonji) has collaborated with the Haebaragi Social Cooperative (Chairman Jeong Shinmo) since this year to provide health education at locations such as Busanjin-gu Health Center, Yangjeong Together Care Center, Happy Child Dream Center, and Prugio Dream Center.
The students are enhancing their practical skills by combining the theory learned in the classroom with community and clinical practice. As the scope of community healthcare has expanded recently, they have provided education on chronic disease management at senior centers and colleges for the elderly, and health, nutrition, and environmental education at daycare centers and care centers.
Choi Eunju, Director of Yangjeong Together Care Center, said, "Over the course of 16 weeks, we conducted child-tailored health education on various themed topics with the students, giving the children opportunities to practice health management in their daily lives."
A nursing student who participated in the health education shared, "Thanks to the students who actively participated in the classes, we were able to successfully complete the health education, which was very rewarding. Through various experiences in the field of health, I gained confidence in entering society."
