President Yoon Suk-yeol's approval rating for his administration has dropped to the low 30% range, according to a recent poll. In daily surveys, his approval rating fell to the 20% range, marking the lowest point since his inauguration.
According to a poll released on the 15th by Realmeter (conducted at the request of Energy Economy Newspaper over four days from the 8th to the 12th, excluding holidays, targeting 2,010 voters aged 18 and older nationwide, with 97% mobile and 3% landline using an automated response method), President Yoon's positive evaluation of his administration dropped by 4.7 percentage points from the previous survey (first week of April) to 32.6%. Negative evaluations stating that the administration is performing poorly rose by 4.1 percentage points to 63.6%.
Looking at the daily approval ratings, it was 37.1% on the 9th, just before the general election, but plummeted to 30.2% on the 11th, the day after the election. It further declined to 28.2% on the 12th. The 28.2% positive evaluation recorded in the daily poll is the lowest since President Yoon took office. Previously, it had reached 28.7% on August 9, 2022, but this recent poll shows a further decline.
By region, approval ratings fell by 7.8 percentage points in Incheon and Gyeonggi, dropping from 38.1% to 30.3%. In Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam, the rating decreased by 5.0 percentage points from 40.7% to 35.7%. By age group, the most resilient group, those aged 70 and above, saw a sharp drop of 9.6 percentage points from 58.5% to 48.9%. The 30s age group also experienced a 7.5 percentage point decline, falling from 33.9% to 26.4%.
