A man in his 40s cleaning an incinerator at a paper mill in Yangsan dies after exposure to lime contaminants
A worker cleaning an incinerator at a paper mill in Yangsan, Gyeongnam, died after being struck on the head by lime debris.
According to the Yangsan Police Station on the 26th, at around 4:55 p.m. the previous day, a man in his 40s identified as Mr. A, who was removing foreign substances from a circular incinerator at a paper mill in Yongdang-dong, Yangsan City, was hit on the head by a lump of lime.
Mr. A suffered severe head injuries from the accident and passed away while being transported to the hospital.
The incinerator in question measures 4 meters in diameter and 10 meters in height, and Mr. A was working with his upper body inside the incinerator at a height of 7 meters.
Mr. A was an employee of a subcontractor and was reported to have been wearing safety protective gear at the time of the accident.
The workplace where the accident occurred is known to be subject to the Serious Accident Punishment Act.
