Sahmyook University, Inauguration of the 16th President Je Haejong
Je Hae-jong, the 16th president of Sahmyook University, has officially taken office.
On the 26th, Sahmyook University announced that it held the inauguration and retirement ceremony for the 15th president Kim Il-mok and the 16th newly appointed president at the Hong Myung-gi Hall in the Yohangwan building on campus the previous day.
The ceremony was attended by Kang Soon-ki, chairman of the Sahmyook Academy Foundation, former presidents, university officials, Baek Kyung-hyun, mayor of Guri, Seung Hyun-woo, president of Seoul Women’s University, Jeon Kwang-jin, president of Sahmyook Foods, Yang Geo-seung, director of Sahmyook Seoul Hospital, Park Joo-hee, president of Sahmyook Health University, and about 500 others.
The newly appointed president stated, “Based on the slogan ‘SU RISE, a new leap for Sahmyook University,’ I will lead Sahmyook University for the next four years,” adding, “I will enhance Sahmyook’s brand value by establishing an educational platform that is based on ‘Revival,’ is ‘Innovative,’ and ‘Sustainable’ with ‘Engagement.’”
In addition, the new president set key tasks such as the integration with Sahmyook Health University and the establishment of a medical school.

Born in 1967, the new president graduated from the Department of Theology at Sahmyook University and earned a Master of Divinity (M.Div) and a doctoral degree from Andrews University in the United States. He was appointed as a professor in the Department of Theology at Sahmyook University in 2012. He has held major positions including director of the chaplaincy office, director of the Center for Student Life Education, head of the graduate theology department, head of the theology department, and director of the BFFL Center.
