BF Labs Signs LOI with Siem Reap Provincial Government in Cambodia to Build Local Smart City
Smart city integrated platform company BF Labs, along with its affiliate and partner Berrywords, is embarking on a local smart city construction project in Cambodia in the form of a consortium.
The BF Labs consortium announced on the 18th that it has signed a final Letter of Intent (LOI) with the Siem Reap provincial government in Cambodia, with the primary goal of building a local smart city.
The LOI signing ceremony held in Cambodia was attended by representatives including Prak Sophoan, Governor of Siem Reap Province, Kim Jihyeok, Director of BF Labs, Kang Doohwan and Bu Jang, and Cheon Manjong, Branch Manager of Berrywords.
As the lead company of the consortium, BF Labs plans to first optimize an eco-friendly smart shared mobility platform tailored to local conditions in this project. The smart city shared mobility platform developed by BF Labs as part of the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Smart City Challenge project received certification from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport for smart city services in December last year, verifying its effectiveness.
In addition, through business linkage with its affiliate Geuligo, the company plans to commercialize the ‘GreeGo’ app service as a localized model and continuously expand the eco-friendly mobility ecosystem by linking mobility rental and return, battery exchange stations, and more, thereby laying the foundation for smart city construction.
‘GreeGo,’ independently developed by Geuligo, is an integrated operation app service for purely electric-based personal mobility such as kickboards, electric bicycles, and electric motorcycles. It has proven the potential for a sustainable business model in the Jeju Smart City Challenge project in Korea. Last year, it successfully launched a transfer service with public transportation, gaining attention as a commercialized model of MaaS (Mobility as a Service).
Berrywords, a partner participating in the consortium, also supports the operation of local mobility services. Berrywords is a specialized eco-platform service company engaged in electric bike and battery exchange station infrastructure businesses in Cambodia.
The company’s strategy is to improve various urban problems occurring in Cambodia, such as traffic congestion and illegal parking, through the eco-friendly mobility industry, and to continuously expand services by linking Cambodia’s regional transportation infrastructure with various tourism contents in the future.
