When Will the Restoration of the Seoul Jung-gu People's Livelihood Budget Return to Square One?
Jung-gu, Seoul (Mayor Kim Gil-seong) withdrew the request for reconsideration on the 12th and submitted a supplementary budget proposal worth 7.3 billion KRW to the council, focusing on restoring the budget that was unfairly cut during the main budget review.
After much deliberation to reflect residents' demands to "revive the livelihood budget," the district submitted the "first supplementary budget proposal of the year" to the Jung-gu Council on the 12th. However, the result of the extraordinary session held on the 19th was the approval of the "request for reconsideration," which had already been lawfully withdrawn and nullified. The original proposal was approved as is, maintaining the 8 billion KRW cut. Now, Jung-gu must refocus on passing the supplementary budget proposal to restore the reduced livelihood budget.
During this extraordinary session, the People Power Party council members raised objections to procedural flaws in the submitted agenda and boycotted the vote. They argued that if the goal was to support livelihoods, the nullified request for reconsideration should not have been forcibly submitted and approved; instead, the supplementary budget proposal submitted according to procedure should have been processed.
The district stated, "The essence is to ensure the budget for livelihood-related projects is properly secured; now we will focus on principles." Accordingly, it urged the Jung-gu Council, as the representative body of the residents, to return to its original duties and "promptly review the supplementary budget proposal."

Mayor Kim Gil-seong of Jung-gu said, "In these difficult times economically and externally, it is urgent to secure the budget without fail and operate the district administration stably," adding, "We will prepare meticulously to ensure that this supplementary budget proposal passes the council and secure the budget without fail."
