Youth-Led Youth Festival Held and Recognized for Expanding Local Community Youth Participation
Recently, concerns over youth delinquency have been growing. Continuous attention and observation are necessary for the healthy and happy growth of adolescents.
In response, Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Junhee) is discovering and implementing various projects such as ▲activation of youth activities ▲support for at-risk youth ▲blocking harmful environments and expanding protection for youth ▲strengthening the guarantee of youth participation rights ▲and youth support linked with local resources.
As a result, the district achieved the great honor of being selected as an excellent institution and receiving the Prime Minister's Award in the '2023 Excellent Local Government Youth Policy Evaluation.'
Organized by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, the '2023 Excellent Local Government Youth Policy Evaluation' is conducted annually targeting 17 metropolitan cities and provinces and 228 local governments nationwide to disseminate excellent youth policy cases.
The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family selected 17 institutions with outstanding efforts in ▲youth protection and support ▲and strengthening policy foundations in this evaluation.
In particular, the district received high praise for hosting youth-led youth festivals, supporting various club activities, and operating programs linked with local resources within the district.
The district was also recognized for listening to the diverse voices of youth. It has operated the 'Children's Rights Monitoring Group' and the 'Youth Autonomous Council,' providing opportunities for youth to actively participate in community issues.
Along with this, the district operates the Youth Counseling and Welfare Center and the Out-of-School Youth Support Center, continuously providing customized services such as education, employment, and independence support tailored to the individual characteristics of youth, promoting their healthy growth and welfare enhancement.
