Personal Information Protection Commission Holds Meeting to Improve AI Personal Data Infringement Assessment System
Experts: "Expansion to include legislative members' bills is necessary"
On the 19th, the Personal Information Protection Commission announced that it held a meeting at Korea University's HI-AI Research Institute to improve the 'Artificial Intelligence (AI) Personal Information Infringement Assessment System.'
The Commission analyzes and reviews personal information infringement factors when central administrative agencies draft or amend laws and recommends necessary improvements. Since July 2022, it has been utilizing the AI Personal Information Infringement Assessment System.
At the meeting, T3Q, the system model developer, and the Commission explained the current status of the system. They shared recent domestic and international AI algorithm technologies and legal tech service trends, and discussed directions for enhancing system performance and user convenience.
Experts at the meeting raised the opinion that evaluations of personal information infringement factors are necessary not only for government legislation but also for all laws, including member-proposed legislation. The Commission will reflect this in next year's system improvements.
