Dolphin IT Launches Ultra-Light Underwater Scooter Controllable by Finger Movements
Dolphin IT (CEO Gu Chang-hoon) has launched an ultra-light underwater scooter that allows users to move freely underwater with just one finger during various marine leisure sports activities such as snorkeling, skin diving, and freediving.
The ultra-light underwater scooter is easy to use even for the general public who have difficulty swimming. It is compact and lightweight, weighing about 2kg, making it highly portable. Users can enjoy simple underwater exploration and marine leisure by pressing a button underwater with just one finger.
CEO Gu Chang-hoon of Dolphin IT recognized that Korea's marine leisure culture was not as developed as expected based on his experience enjoying marine leisure sports while working at a robotics company in Singapore. With the desire to share the underwater activities he enjoyed in Southeast Asia with others, he began developing the underwater scooter.
CEO Gu explained that while many people enjoy playing in coastal or beach areas, few venture into deep water, and that experiencing the underwater environment in deep water is a completely different experience from activities in shallow water.
The product can tow an adult weighing 100kg at a speed of about 5 km/h, and actual product tests have received feedback that it satisfies both functionality and fun.
Dolphin IT is currently conducting research and development to increase the recommended battery usage time of the product, which is currently about 40 to 60 minutes, by 1.5 to 2 times.
CEO Gu Chang-hoon of Dolphin IT stated, “We established a U.S. corporation and began exports last May, and we plan to start selling the product domestically as well. We aim to grow into a company active in all fields of marine mobility, from marine leisure to safety, military, and defense industries.”
