Dongseo University Students Win Grand Prize in Student Category at Korea Hanok Competition
Students from Dongseo University received the Grand Prize, the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Award, in the student category of the 2023 Korea Hanok Competition.
This competition is hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and organized by the Architectural Space Research Institute to discover the excellence of Hanok and increase public interest in Hanok.
This year, a total of 631 entries were submitted across the completion, student design, photography, and video categories. After comprehensive document screening, presentations, and on-site evaluations, a total of 48 works were selected as award winners.

View original imageThird-year architecture students Lee Sangha, Kim Minju, Jeong Jinkyu, and Seok Dayun submitted “It:da” to the competition, winning the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Award and a prize of 10 million KRW.
The grand prize-winning work “It:da” was highly praised for creatively designing the future Hanok city by planning a bridge that connects commercial, residential, and cultural spaces while reflecting the characteristics of each space in the planned Changneung New Town in Goyang City.

Lee Sangha, who received the grand prize, said, “Winning the grand prize was thanks to the efforts of my team members and the guidance of the architecture professors. I will take this award as an opportunity to think more deeply about architecture and do my best to become an excellent architect.”
