Doksan-dong Novotel Site, Station Area Revitalization Project Promoted... Landmark and Central Plaza Development
The site of the Novotel Hotel in Doksan-dong, Geumcheon-gu, Seoul, will be transformed into a transit-oriented hub featuring a landmark and a central plaza.

View original imageOn the 23rd, Seoul City announced that it held the 13th Urban and Architectural Joint Committee meeting the previous day and approved the amendment to the Doksan District Unit Plan for the area around 1030-1 Doksan-dong, Geumcheon-gu. With this, the designation of the Shindoksan Station transit-oriented revitalization project special planning zone and the detailed development plan have been finalized.
The target site is the former Novotel Hotel in Doksan-dong, located near Shindoksan Station on the Shinansan Line, scheduled to open in 2024. It is an area where low-rise residential neighborhoods are formed on the east side centered around Siheung-daero.
This district unit plan amendment aims to enhance the functions of the transit station area and its surroundings through the Shindoksan Station transit-oriented revitalization project, creating a landmark to elevate Shindoksan’s status and establishing a transit hub by introducing a central plaza.
The proposed district unit plan includes necessary lot planning and height regulation changes, as well as the introduction of activation facilities required for the area, among other key detailed development plan contents.

Jo Nam-jun, Director of the Seoul City Urban Planning Bureau, said, “With the detailed development plan decision for the Shindoksan Station transit-oriented revitalization project, Shindoksan Station, which is scheduled to open in Doksan-dong, is expected to serve as a growth hub, proactively responding to the construction of a three-dimensional complex city and revitalizing the area.”
