"Feeling Unfairly Treated" JMS Followers Hold Rally Urging 'Jeong Myeong-seok's Innocence'
Jung Myung-seok, First Trial for Alleged Quasi-Rape of Female Followers
'JMS No. 2' and 5 Other Female Executives Also Involved
On the 13th, members of the Christian Gospel Mission (JMS) held a large-scale protest in downtown Seoul, demanding a not guilty verdict for Jeong Myeong-seok (78), who is on trial for sexually assaulting a female believer.
According to the police, the JMS Congregation Council held a rally from 4 PM to 6 PM on the same day at the Sungnyemun Rotary in Jung-gu, Seoul, and on the road near City Hall Station, urging a not guilty verdict for Jeong. It is reported that about 8,000 JMS members were expected to participate in the protest.
An event commemorating February 18, 2019, as the "Resurrection," marking one year since Jeong Myeong-seok, president of the Christian Gospel Mission (commonly known as JMS), was released from prison, with a photo of Jeong Myeong-seok taken at the event.

Jeong is currently on trial after being detained and indicted on charges of molesting or sexually assaulting Ms. A 23 times from February 2018 to September 2021 at training centers including Wolmyeong-dong in Geumsan-gun, Chungnam Province, and for quasi-rape of two female believers holding Hong Kong and Australian nationalities.
In August 2018, he was also accused of molesting a Korean female believer by stroking her thigh while transporting her in a golf cart.
Jeong Joeun (real name Kim Ji-seon, 44), known as the 'second-in-command of JMS,' along with six female executives including the Director of Civil Affairs, Director of International Missions, and personal secretaries, have been indicted and are on trial for involvement or assistance in Jeong’s crimes.

Meanwhile, the JMS Congregation Council also held a rally in front of Seoul City Hall on the 6th, demanding a fair trial for Jeong Myeong-seok.
