Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) is introducing an ‘AI-based Behavior Analysis System’ to analyze challenging behaviors of people with developmental disabilities.
Previously, the district received 75 million KRW through a Seoul city public contest to install the system.
Regarding the background of this system introduction, a district official explained, “Behavior analysis is necessary to alleviate challenging behaviors of people with developmental disabilities, but 24-hour observation is difficult and reliance on verbal reports from caregivers and observers makes objective observation and analysis challenging. Therefore, we decided to introduce this system.”
This year, as a pilot project, the district will install a video system (CCTV) at the Dobong Lifelong Learning Center for People with Developmental Disabilities to support challenging behaviors, and equip it with an AI engine for analyzing the video database of challenging behaviors.
Subsequently, through real-time video and other means, the system will analyze challenging behaviors such as aggression toward others and self-harm among people with developmental disabilities, and develop psychological and behavioral treatment plans to alleviate these behaviors. Additionally, by linking expert solutions from behavior modification specialists, the system will support not only people with developmental disabilities but also their families and caregivers.

Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “Challenging behaviors of people with developmental disabilities place a great burden on families and care workers. We will spare no effort to support the pilot operation of the AI-based challenging behavior analysis system to alleviate these behaviors and reduce the burden on families and caregivers of people with developmental disabilities.”
