On the 10th, Yongin City announced the revision of the 'Yongin City Apartment Planning and Review Standards,' which requires sufficient charging facilities to be secured in apartment parking lots for the convenience of citizens using electric vehicles.
The improvement plan significantly expanded the installation target for electric vehicle charging infrastructure from apartment complexes with 100 or more households to those with 30 or more households, which are subject to Yongin City's housing construction project approval.
Until now, only apartment complexes with 100 or more households were required to install electric vehicle charging infrastructure under the 'Act on the Development and Promotion of Environmentally Friendly Automobiles.'
Additionally, to allow residents to charge electric vehicles comfortably, the standards for dedicated parking spaces and charging facility installations were raised to 7% of the total parking spaces. Previously, under Gyeonggi Province's 'Ordinance on the Promotion and Use of Environmentally Friendly Automobiles,' only 5% or more of the total parking spaces needed to be equipped.
Furthermore, at least 20% of all charging facilities must be installed as rapid charging stations. The Gyeonggi Province ordinance applies this standard only to national or local governments and public institutions.
Standards to prevent fires in underground parking lots were also strengthened, requiring the boundaries of electric vehicle-only parking spaces to be surrounded by walls that can withstand fire for more than one hour.
