Secured 1.8 Billion KRW in Special Grants for Local Issues Directly Affecting Residents' Lives and Safety through Disaster Safety Projects
A 50% Increase Compared to 1.2 Billion KRW Secured in the First Half of 2022
Seongdong-gu (Mayor Jung Won-oh) has secured 1.8 billion KRW in special grants from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to support financial demands for local issues and disaster safety.
This amount represents a 50% increase compared to the 1.2 billion KRW secured in the first half of last year.
The detailed breakdown of the special grants secured by Seongdong-gu in the first half of this year includes: 900 million KRW for installing road heating systems at six elementary schools within the district (Geumbuk Elementary, Geumok Elementary, Oksu Elementary, Dongho Elementary, Okjeong Elementary, Haenghyeon Elementary); 600 million KRW for installing road heating systems on steep slopes in residential areas at five locations including Hanyang University Hospital Intersection to Sageun-dong Community Center, in front of Kumho Hyundai Apartments, Haengdang Station to Haengdang Brownstone Apartments, in front of Singumho Doosan We've Apartments, and in front of Kumho Central Church; and 300 million KRW for creating a sledding hill within the Rainbow Garden.
By installing road heating systems at elementary schools and steep slopes in residential areas, the district plans to prevent safety accidents such as falls during winter and ensure residents' safety and convenience. In particular, the Sageun-dong area, where village bus traffic was difficult during heavy snowfall, is expected to see a significant improvement in residents' commuting convenience and accident prevention through the installation of road heating systems.
Additionally, by utilizing the Rainbow Garden, which was an idle site during winter, to create a sledding hill, it is expected to become a leisure facility that can be enjoyed by the whole family, regardless of age or gender.
Prior to this, Seongdong-gu secured approximately 600 million KRW in special grants this year through policy projects. The detailed breakdown includes incentives for excellent local governments in the government joint evaluation, incentives for outstanding institutions in local government innovation evaluation, incentives for excellent local governments in rapid local finance execution, incentives for excellent local governments in comprehensive civil service evaluation, and seismic reinforcement work at Seongdong-gu Public Health Center.
