Gumi 'Inside' Citizen Lecture Series Successfully Underway ... Mayor Also Listening

The Gumi Cultural City citizen lecture series, ‘Gumi INSIDE,’ is being successfully conducted with enthusiastic participation from citizens at every session.
Kim Jang-ho, Mayor of Gumi, made a surprise visit to the Gumi Inside lecture, attentively listening to the lecture until the end and communicating with the citizens.
View original imageSince the first lecture on May 25th by Jeong Gwang-min, CEO of Space Inha, titled ‘Cultural Arts Education Created by the Local Community,’ five lectures have been held so far. Each week, about 50 citizens from various age groups and backgrounds consistently attend, maintaining a lively atmosphere.
Each lecture was followed by numerous questions from citizens, and even after the sessions ended, passionate citizens continued to engage with the speakers for further communication.
All the lecturers participating in the forum praised the high attendance rate and the enthusiastic engagement of the citizens.
Notably, on the 22nd, Kim Jang-ho, Mayor of Gumi, made a surprise visit to the lecture ‘Local Branding that Revitalizes the Region’ by Choi Kwang-woon, CEO of the Urban Culture Academy. He listened attentively with the citizens until the end and communicated with them, reaffirming his commitment to making Gumi a cultural city.
‘Gumi INSIDE’ is a citizen lecture series that embodies the meaning of ‘looking into and reflecting on the city we live in, Gumi, from various perspectives,’ and it was organized as part of the Gumi Cultural City development project.
The lectures are held every Thursday at 7 p.m. at Samil Bookstore from May 25th to July 27th. So far, five lectures have been conducted on the themes of ▲Cultural Arts Education ▲Social Innovation ▲Cultural Content ▲Archiving ▲Local Branding.
Upcoming lectures include five additional sessions: ▲June 29th, ‘Community Activities and Regional Change and Growth’ by Lee Chang-won, CEO of Indie 053 ▲July 6th, ‘Urban Culture Created by Youth’ by Lee Man-su, CEO of Rainmaker Cooperative ▲July 13th, ‘Cultural Spaces Leading Regional Change’ by Tak Young-hee, Deputy Manager of the Chuncheon Cultural City Center’s Regional Culture Team ▲July 20th, ‘Urban Brand Reflecting the Philosophy of the City’ by Go Yoon-jung, Director of Yeongdo Cultural City Center ▲July 27th, ‘Local Art Ecosystem and the Role of Artists’ by Park Dong-su, CEO of Make & Move.
Seo Young-su, Director of the Cultural City Support Center, said, “Seeing many citizens passionately participate in each session, I once again realized how strong the citizens’ desire and enthusiasm for a cultural city are. We hope for continued interest and participation from many citizens.”
