Korean Paper Association Holds Ceremony for the 7th Paper Day
The Korea Paper Association announced on the 16th that it held the '7th Paper Day' commemorative ceremony at the Press Club on the 20th floor of the Korea Press Center in Jung-gu, Seoul.
The event was attended by about 100 people, including representatives of major domestic paper companies, industry, academia, related organizations, and government officials. Nine individuals who contributed to the development of the paper industry were awarded the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award. Various programs followed, including the announcement of a public awareness survey on paper and invited lectures.
In his commemorative speech, Lee Bok-jin, chairman of the Korea Paper Association, said, "Paper was originally invented as a means of recording and communication, but it has developed into various forms that enrich human life." He added, "Today, its social, cultural, and economic value is increasing as it expands its scope as an eco-friendly alternative and a basic material for industry."

The Korea Paper Association, along with eight related upstream and downstream organizations (Seoul Gyeongin Paper Wholesale Cooperative, Korea Corrugated Packaging Industry Cooperative, Korea Box Industry Cooperative, Korea Paper Industry Cooperative, Korea Paper Raw Material Recycling Cooperative, Korea Paperboard Industry Cooperative, Korea Pulp and Paper Engineering Society), designated June 16, 1902, when mechanical paper was first mass-produced, as 'Paper Day' and holds a commemorative ceremony every year.
