Seoul City Lifts Boundary Alert
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety stated that it "never made any request to Seoul City" regarding Seoul City's issuance of a warning alert related to North Korea's space launch vehicle launch.
An official from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety said on the 31st, "We have never made any request regarding Seoul City's warning alert," and added, "We are currently investigating the circumstances related to this."
Earlier, at around 6:32 a.m., an emergency siren signaling an air raid alert sounded for about one minute in Seoul. Then, at 6:41 a.m., Seoul City sent an urgent disaster message stating, "At 6:32 a.m. today, a warning alert was issued for the Seoul area. Citizens are advised to prepare for evacuation, and please prioritize evacuation for children and the elderly."
However, at 7:03 a.m., the Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced via an urgent disaster message that "the warning alert issued by Seoul Special City was a false alarm."
Later, at 7:25 a.m., Seoul City announced, "An urgent notification was sent due to North Korea's missile launch. We inform you that the warning alert for the entire Seoul area has been lifted. Citizens are advised to return to their daily routines."
