MFDS Inspects 2,300 'Asian Cuisine Delivery' Outlets Including Rice Noodles, Sushi, and Curry
The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety announced on the 24th that from the 30th of this month to the 2nd of next month, it will conduct intensive inspections of Asian cuisine delivery restaurants in cooperation with 17 local governments.
To ensure the safety management of delivery food, whose consumption has increased since COVID-19, the Ministry is inspecting restaurants delivering high-consumption items. Following the inspections of malatang and lamb skewers in the first quarter, this inspection targets about 2,300 restaurants delivering Asian dishes such as rice noodles, sushi, and curry, focusing on those with no inspection history or with violation records in the past two years.
The main inspection items include hygienic management of kitchens and cooking facilities, whether expired ingredients are stored or used, compliance with preservation and storage standards for ingredients, and measures to prevent intrusion by rats and pests. Along with the inspections, about 100 randomly collected cooked food samples will be tested for food poisoning bacteria.
