Jokowi "Expecting Korean Companies to Participate in Indonesia Capital Relocation Project"
President Yoon Suk-yeol held a summit meeting with Indonesian President Joko Widodo on the occasion of attending the Group of Seven (G7) summit held in Hiroshima, Japan, on the 21st, discussing Korea-Indonesia relations and cooperation with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
At the Korea-Indonesia summit in Hiroshima on the same day, President Yoon said, "I am pleased that cooperative projects between the two countries have been progressing rapidly since President Joko Widodo's visit to Korea last July," according to Lee Do-woon, spokesperson for the presidential office, in a written briefing.
He also expressed gratitude for President Joko Widodo's interest and support in strengthening investment, infrastructure, and defense cooperation between Korea and Indonesia.
President Joko Widodo congratulated the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries this year and said, "The cooperative relationship between Korea and Indonesia holds great importance for Indonesia. We ask Korea to actively invest and cooperate in areas such as agricultural development, electric vehicle ecosystem establishment, information and communication, and small nuclear power plants."
He also said, "We hope that many Korean companies with excellent technology and experience will participate in the Nusantara capital relocation project, which the Indonesian government is focusing on," and requested, "Please take good care of the education and training of Indonesian workers dispatched to Korea." He also stated that he would ensure the smooth progress of defense cooperation projects between Korea and Indonesia.
President Yoon responded, "Our government also values cooperation with Indonesia, a key partner in the development of future industries," adding, "In particular, I request President Joko Widodo's interest and support for Korean investment companies operating in Indonesia, and our government will do its best to facilitate the smooth implementation of various cooperative projects and encourage the participation of our companies."
President Joko Widodo confirmed active support for the Korean government's Korea-ASEAN Solidarity Initiative (KASI).

President Yoon also stated that he will continue to strengthen cooperation with ASEAN for peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region and will work closely with Indonesia, the ASEAN chair country this year, to this end.
