Gento Kono (河野玄斗), who passed a series of highly difficult exams in Japan such as medical, bar, and certified public accountant exams, earning the nickname "God of Studying," has become a popular YouTuber with over one million subscribers.
According to Japanese media including Sports Hochi on the 26th, Kono, born in 1996 and from Kanagawa Prefecture, passed the bar exam in just eight months without taking a leave of absence while attending the University of Tokyo Medical School in 2017. At that time, he attracted attention locally as the "youngest medical school graduate to pass the bar exam." He then passed the national medical licensing exam in March 2020, and in November last year, he also passed the certified public accountant exam. In Japan, the medical, bar, and certified public accountant exams are known as the "three major national qualification hurdles" due to their vast study volume and high difficulty. Kono said, "There are only about four people in Japan who have passed all three exams, and I am one of them."
Currently, Kono is active as a YouTuber with 1.02 million subscribers. In 2019, he launched the YouTube channel "Stardy - Gento Kono's Divine Classes," where he shares his unique study methods. Japanese netizens have commented on Kono's videos saying, "My grades improved a lot after watching Kono's study methods," "Thank you to Kono for giving me courage," and "I am amazed at how quickly he understands and solves problems." Last month, to celebrate surpassing one million YouTube subscribers, he conducted a 48-hour nonstop live study broadcast.
He also shows his preparation for various exams through YouTube. Notably, he passed the "Real Estate Transaction Specialist Qualification Exam" in just one week of studying in 2021, and while preparing for the certified public accountant exam, he passed several other qualification exams, earning praise as a "genius."
Regarding not undergoing the training process despite passing the national medical and bar exams, Kono said, "There is a regulation prohibiting side jobs during practical training," and added, "If I were to do that, I would have to stop the business and YouTube activities I have been doing since university."
