On this day, Simple Planet showcased ‘SIMPLE Ingradient 5 types,’ animal cell ingredients produced using the country’s only animal cell line platform technology (cultured meat). They stated that the fishy taste and lack of nutritional components, which are considered drawbacks of plant-based alternative meat, can be supplemented by Simple Planet’s animal-based alternative protein and cultured fat (SIMPLE Ingradient).
Additionally, the cell-cultured powder contains concentrated protein compared to beef, and through the cell-cultured powder, it is possible to advance alternative meat and utilize it in various food additives and functional ingredients. This research was conducted jointly by Simple Planet and Professor Hong Jin-ki’s research team from the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at Yonsei University, and was published in April in ‘npj Science of Food,’ a food science journal issued by Springer Nature.
According to the paper, the cell-cultured meat powder is made directly into powder in a muscle fiber state without using molds to create meat shapes, resulting in a protein content of 48.1%, which is much higher compared to beef tenderloin (20.7%) or chicken breast (25.7%). It also explained that the use of cell culture medium can be reduced, making the price efficiency 76% higher.
