Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) announced on the 23rd that it has newly purchased three electric trains to improve the metropolitan transportation conditions of the 3rd generation new towns, including Namyangju Wangsuk, Goyang, and Changneung.

View original imageKORAIL plans to add two electric trains on the Gyeongchun Line and one on the Gyeongui-Jungang Line adjacent to the 3rd generation new towns starting from May 2025, and signed a contract worth approximately 50 billion KRW for the purchase of new electric trains at the end of last month.
The newly contracted electric trains remove the passenger compartment corridor doors to secure a sense of openness, and the seat width has been increased by 30mm compared to the existing ones to enhance passenger convenience.
Additionally, four air purifiers are installed in each car to maintain clean indoor air quality, and high-definition CCTV cameras are installed inside the compartments to prevent crime and theft of lost items.
Furthermore, a Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM) system has been applied by attaching sensors to major components inside the vehicles to monitor vehicle safety in real time, thereby enhancing safety.
