[Featured Stock] KBG Reveals Principle of Superior Silicon Anode Material...Only Domestic Company Synthesizing Functional Silicon Material Independently
KBG is showing strength. The reason why silicon-graphite composite anodes enable faster charging compared to graphite-only anodes has been revealed, which appears to be influencing the stock price as well.

UNIST announced that the research team led by Professors Hyunwook Lee and Kyungmin Jung from the Department of Energy and Chemical Engineering used a 'real-time optical microscopy system' capable of observing changes inside batteries in real time, confirming that the heterogeneity observed in graphite electrodes is alleviated in silicon-graphite composite electrodes.
The research team revealed the reaction heterogeneity of graphite anodes during battery charge-discharge processes through optical microscopy observation and mathematical modeling techniques, and confirmed the mechanism by which silicon-graphite composites mitigate this heterogeneity.
During charging, graphite electrodes reacted mainly on the upper surface, resulting in a significant difference in lithium concentration between the top and bottom surfaces. In contrast, silicon-graphite electrodes exhibited uniform reactions throughout the interior. It was also confirmed that silicon promotes the reaction of adjacent graphite. This explains why graphite-silicon anodes can charge faster than graphite anodes.
KBG produces functional silicon materials, which were previously 100% imported, using its own technology, thereby substituting imports and exporting products. KBG is the only company in Korea that synthesizes functional silicon materials independently. The company expects that the materials it supplies will make significant contributions to related industries. Through transactions and joint development activities with global silicon companies such as Dow in the U.S., Germany's Wacker, KCC, Elkem, and LG Chem, KBG is continuously expanding new application products. KBG is also developing high thermal conductivity materials and secondary battery electrolyte materials. Its expansion areas include skin protection materials, surface coating materials for the robotics industry, polymer electrolyte materials applicable to secondary batteries, thermal management materials for electric vehicles, and materials for biosensors and drug delivery systems.
