Gwangju Seo-gu, Opening of the Charitable Restaurant 'Yangdong Cheonwon Guksi'
On the 9th, a budget-friendly restaurant "Yangdong Cheonwon Guksi" opened in Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, where residents can dine without financial burden.
According to Seo-gu on the day, Yangdong Cheonwon Guksi is a project promoted in collaboration with the Gwangju Seo-gu Senior Club (Director Chu Wang-seok) to create jobs for the elderly and revitalize Yangdong Market.
The restaurant was newly renovated from part of the Yangho Senior Center located at the entrance of the seafood building in Yangdong Market, and serves a limited number of noodle bowls daily from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. or until ingredients run out.
Those aged 50 and over and holders of same-day receipts from Yangdong Market can enjoy a bowl of noodles for 1,000 won, while other residents can use the service for 3,000 won per bowl.
Seo-gu plans to maintain the highest quality of the noodles through taste evaluations and user satisfaction surveys, and operate the restaurant as a budget-friendly place that satisfies all residents by developing new menu items.
In particular, Yangdong Cheonwon Guksi is expected to contribute to creating a healthy and active retirement life base by providing jobs to socially retired individuals.
Using domestically produced wheat from Gwangju as noodle ingredients, the project also aims to promote the consumption of Korean wheat and contribute to the creation of safe food.
Kim Yi-gang, head of Seo-gu Office, said, "A bowl of Cheonwon noodles made with the sincerity and hand taste of the elderly is expected to create a warm Seo-gu community and bring new vitality to the traditional market."
He added, "We will spare no support and interest to expand budget-friendly restaurants with positive influence in Seo-gu."
