2022's No.1 Music App 'YouTube Music'..."YouTube's Influence Decisive"
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] YouTube Music was surveyed as the fastest-growing music application last year.
Nielsen Media Korea announced on the 27th that YouTube Music recorded a 61% user growth rate compared to 2021. It ranked 4th among major domestic music app services in 2020 but rose to 1st place within two years.
Nielsen Media Korea cited YouTube's influence as the reason behind YouTube Music's rapid growth. As the YouTube Premium service, which offers an ad-free experience when watching videos on YouTube, gained popularity, the number of YouTube Music users, provided as part of the bundled service, is estimated to have grown alongside it.
The strategy of actively attracting new users by offering a free trial promotion of YouTube Premium every year-end also appears to have been effective.
