Kookmin University Signs MOU with K-Power to Achieve Carbon Neutrality and Carbon Negative Goals

View original imageKookmin University (President Lim Hong-jae) announced that on the 12th, it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with K-Power Co., Ltd. (CEO Kim Ji-hoon) at Room 404 of the Kookmin University Industry-Academic Cooperation Building to create and spread a leading industry-academic cooperation model for carbon neutrality and carbon negativity.
Through this agreement, both institutions are expected to establish a full-cycle cooperative system to realize carbon neutrality and carbon negativity.
K-Power is an eco-friendly technology innovation company that researches, develops, and produces industrial steam boilers based on biomass fuel. Currently, it is engaged in the distribution of eco-friendly industrial boilers through eco-friendly fuel conversion, overseas CDM external projects, and domestic greenhouse gas emissions trading scheme offset-related external projects. In the future, through cooperation with Kookmin University, it plans to expand into waste and garbage recycling, biochar, and hydrogen business sectors.
Kim Ji-hoon, CEO of K-Power, said, “We will strive to achieve tangible results in expanding the biomass industry and reducing greenhouse gases through multifaceted collaboration with Kookmin University, focusing on technology development and nurturing excellent talent.”
Additionally, Oh Ha-ryeong, Vice President of Industry-Academic Research at Kookmin University (Director of the LINC 3.0 Project Group), responded, “Through this cooperation, we will provide wholehearted support for technology development and nurturing outstanding talent for carbon neutrality and carbon negativity together with K-Power. Ultimately, we will do our best to enhance national competitiveness and leave a better world for future generations.”

At the MOU signing ceremony, key personnel from both institutions attended, including Kim Ji-hoon, CEO of K-Power; Manager Kim Dae-hwi; Oh Ha-ryeong, Vice President of Industry-Academic Research at Kookmin University; Professor Shin Dong-hoon of the Mechanical Engineering Department; Seo Jun-kyung, Head of the Industry-Academic Cooperation Team; and Lee Jin-gu, Head of Kookmin University Technology Holdings Co., Ltd. They discussed step-by-step strategies and mutual cooperation plans for the full-scale creation of a leading industry-academic cooperation model for carbon neutrality and carbon negativity.
