[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chunhan] CU announced on the 29th that the new follow-up product to Yonsei Milk Cream Bread, the Hwang Cheese Fresh Cream Bread, ranked first in dessert sales within just one week of its release.
The Hwang Cheese Fresh Cream Bread surpassed 170,000 units sold. This equates to 16.9 pieces sold per minute, which is more than seven times higher than the initial sales of the Yonsei Milk Cream Bread series. Even before its release, the Hwang Cheese Fresh Cream Bread gained word-of-mouth popularity on social networking services (SNS) and online communities. On the membership application PocketCU, over 2,000 units were sold within just 10 minutes of the sales start, setting records for the shortest reservation purchase time and the highest sales volume.
The Hwang Cheese Fresh Cream Bread is the sixth product in the CU Yonsei Milk Cream Bread series. This product features fresh cream made with Hwang cheese produced from milk sourced exclusively from Yonsei Milk’s dedicated farm, containing up to 50% more cream than regular cream bread to enhance its flavor. It also includes cheddar cheese to emphasize the unique savory and slightly salty taste of Hwang cheese. The bread is made using CU’s special recipe to create a chewy texture, and squid ink is added to the dough to provide a visual contrast with the yellow Hwang cheese cream.
The Yonsei Milk Cream Bread series, launched in January, has gained great popularity for its bakery-level quality, with cumulative sales exceeding 19 million units to date.
