Gonjiam Resort Opens for 22·23 Ski Season
Booking, Payment, Rental, and Lift Boarding via Mobile App
'Mobile Quick Pass' Service Launched
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Gwangju City’s Gonjiam Resort, the largest ski resort in the Seoul metropolitan area, announced on the 19th that it opened its ski slopes on the 10th, marking the start of the '22·23 ski season'.
Gonjiam Resort Ski Area is the closest ski resort to the Seoul metropolitan area, featuring a slope area of 403,927㎡ (approximately 123,000 pyeong), a total length of 6.8 km, and a maximum width of 154 m. It also boasts a high-speed lift that can transport 15,000 people per hour to the summit. Time-based lift tickets, slope capacity limits, and online reservation systems have also been introduced.
This season, Gonjiam Resort is implementing a 'Mobile Quick Pass' that allows all activities such as booking, payment, rental, ticket issuance, ski resort entry, and lift boarding to be completed with just a smartphone through its mobile application (app). Skiers who have issued lift tickets can pass through gates and board lifts without any additional procedures by having their phone’s Bluetooth function recognized upon entering the ski resort.
The 'Fun Slope' course has been expanded to increase enjoyment. In addition to the existing 360-degree rotation section on the beginner to intermediate slopes, big curves, and wave courses, a wave zone has been newly established on the advanced slopes this season. The sledding area has also been expanded from 10 rails to 13, and the simultaneous user capacity increased to 250 people. A reservation system has been introduced for the sledding area as well, allowing visitors to enjoy it conveniently without waiting by booking via mobile and entering through QR code scanning instead of traditional ticket booths.
Additionally, this season, a 'Safety Helmet Campaign' encouraging helmet use among skiers will be conducted. To promote the campaign, skiers using equipment rental packages will be provided helmets in addition to the existing boots and plates.
