SK Pinks Selected for '2022 Community Contribution Recognition Program'
[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] Jeju SK Pinx (photo) has been recognized for its contributions to the local community.
SK Pinx was recently selected as the representative of 16 Jeju companies and received a plaque of recognition at the ‘2022 Local Community Contribution Recognition Program’ jointly hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea National Council on Social Welfare. SK Pinx stated, "We are very honored to receive this award as a representative of the Jeju region," adding, "We will continue to strive to coexist with the community and help maintain Jeju’s pristine natural environment by expanding various social contribution and eco-friendly activities."
The Local Community Contribution Recognition Program is a system that acknowledges companies that have contributed to solving local community issues by forming partnerships with non-profit organizations through continuous social contribution activities. Selection is made through fair and objective evaluation based on eight assessment areas including environmental management, ethical management, and performance.
SK Pinx has been supporting the ‘One Meal Sharing Ontact Project,’ a free meal service for elderly citizens in the province, for two consecutive years in collaboration with Jeju Special Self-Governing Province and SK Rent-a-Car. Approximately 95% of the food ingredients needed for the resort’s restaurants are purchased from local suppliers, and activities for mutual growth continue steadily, such as supporting golf experience learning for students of nearby Changcheon Elementary School.
SK Pinx is also expanding activities to protect Jeju’s clean environment. In June, it signed an agreement with Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Development Corporation to establish an ‘Eco-friendly Resource Circulation Ecosystem’ and participated in a PET bottle recycling project. Last month, it signed a memorandum of understanding with JeClean, an eco-friendly startup in Jeju, to upcycle hotel bedding, initiating a recycling campaign. SK Pinx also conducts plogging along Jeju’s coastline and blood donation activities.
