View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Su-yeon] KT announced on the 14th that it has signed a business agreement with Rideuro, Jeongwon Senior Nursing Home, and CareDoc to establish and expand a patient monitoring system.
Through this agreement, the four companies will build a patient monitoring system using LiDAR at Jeongwon Senior Nursing Home. LiDAR is a technology that emits laser light to capture three-dimensional images and location coordinates of objects.
The main function of the patient monitoring system is to automatically notify administrators when LiDAR and artificial intelligence (AI) detect dangerous situations such as elderly patients falling from their beds. It also alerts medical staff when there is no movement from the elderly for an extended period, helping secure the golden time for treatment.
The LiDAR used in the system is a product from Rideuro, a domestic LiDAR specialist company. It features high-resolution 3D images created by laser and a wide detection angle. Since the 3D images are silhouette-processed and AI automatically recognizes objects and behaviors instead of human personnel, it is suitable for installation inside nursing homes.
This project, which combines KT’s communication infrastructure with Rideuro’s LiDAR, is scheduled for demonstration at Jeongwon Senior Nursing Home in Paju until July 2023. CareDoc will cooperate in expanding the patient monitoring system to nursing homes, nursing hospitals, and silver towns nationwide before and after the demonstration.
Additionally, KT and Rideuro are discussing ways to apply LiDAR to various social safety projects beyond the patient monitoring system, including public restroom safety management, crosswalk traffic accident prevention systems, and perimeter security projects.
