Police University Recognized as Internationally Accredited Testing Institution for Petroleum Product Fire Residue Sample Analysis
[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Jo] The Police University Institute of Security Policy announced on the 14th that it has obtained the 'Internationally Accredited Testing Laboratory' certificate from the Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (KOLAS) for the fire residue sample sector in the field of other petroleum products.
The international accreditation for testing laboratories is a system that certifies the testing capabilities of an institution in a specific field by evaluating the organization, facilities/environment, and personnel of the testing institution according to international standards. In Korea, this is overseen by the Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme under the National Institute of Technology and Standards.
This certification acquisition by the Institute of Security Policy is the seventh case within the police. Previously, the police received international accreditation for fingerprint examination in 2010, digital forensics in 2020, and video analysis in 2021. On the 9th, they also obtained accreditation in the fields of footprints, tire tracks, and document examination.
