Over 160 Reporters Gather at Singapore Event
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] Actor Song Joong-ki heated up Singapore during his visit to promote JTBC's Friday-Saturday-Sunday drama 'The Youngest Son of a Conglomerate'.
On the 8th, according to the online video service (OTT) Viu, a media conference for 'The Youngest Son of a Conglomerate' was held on the outdoor stage at Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore on the previous day, the 7th. About 160 reporters from 48 media outlets across six Asian countries including Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Thailand attended to cover Song Joong-ki.
On that day, Song Joong-ki said, "Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been a long time since I last came to Singapore. I am glad to visit again. Thank you for inviting me." He started with greetings and answered questions from reporters from various countries in English.
He cited his trust in writer Kim Tae-hee, with whom he worked on the drama 'Sungkyunkwan Scandal,' and the casting of actor Lee Sung-min as reasons for choosing 'The Youngest Son of a Conglomerate.' Despite it not being a romantic comedy genre, he also asked back, "Is it really popular? In what way?" regarding the high interest from several Asian countries.
Regarding the character in The Youngest Son of a Conglomerate, he said, "Through this drama, I saw family conflicts caused by money. Money is important to humans, but it should not be the top priority," emphasizing, "I do not want to be reborn as the son of a conglomerate." He also said he likes his current self.
After the event, Song Joong-ki approached about 200 fans waiting outdoors to see him, greeted them, shook hands, and expressed his gratitude.
