Hyundai Motor Company Releases Rolling Lab Development Story Video
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Hyundai Motor Company released a video on the 2nd detailing the development story of the Rolling Lab, which incorporates specific electrification technologies of the high-performance N brand.
The newly released video captures the development process of the Rolling Lab, known as the "moving laboratory." The Rolling Lab is a vehicle used for research, development, and verification before applying high-performance technologies inspired by motorsports to mass-production models.
Following the existing RM (Racing Midship) series, Hyundai's N brand introduced a new Rolling Lab series under a new name to develop next-generation electrified vehicles.
This video reveals the development process of the RN22e and N Vision 74, conveying the future of high-performance cars that the N brand will present.
The Rolling Lab "RN22e" is the N brand's first high-performance vehicle based on the E-GMP platform. Since the launch of the N brand in 2015, it has consistently pursued the "joy of driving," and the RN22e appears as a model that well represents the three core elements of the performance vision: ▲cornering mischief ▲race track driving capability ▲and a sports car suitable for everyday use.
Through the RN22e, the video demonstrates the potential of future electrified N mass-production vehicles by testing and verifying advanced technologies.
The "N Vision 74" is the first hydrogen hybrid Rolling Lab, showcasing the N brand's mid- to long-term vision for high-performance vehicles. It materializes the hydrogen high-performance concept revealed at the N brand launch after seven years of research, featuring a 500kW-class powertrain and a charging time of less than five minutes, offering a new driving experience. Additionally, its design inherits the spirit of the Pony Coupe concept unveiled in 1974, clearly establishing its position as a Hyundai Motor icon beyond the N brand.
The video also features the world premiere of the Ioniq 5 N. Running alongside the Rolling Lab for about three seconds, the Ioniq 5 N is wrapped in an N-exclusive camouflage inspired by "pixels" and the "checkered flag." This N-exclusive camouflage was created and applied for the first time to embody the N brand's effort and passion to continue the joy of driving even in the electrification era.
